A Legacy of Compassion, Growth & Clinical Excellence Since 1995
What began as a small neighbourhood clinic has evolved over three decades into a technology-driven, NABH-accredited tertiary care hospital.
How it began
Revathi Medical Center was founded on 9 February 1995 as a small clinic at Kumaranagar, Tiruppur, to provide accessible, compassionate primary care to the local community. What followed is a story of vision, perseverance, community trust, and an unwavering commitment to ethical, affordable, high-quality healthcare. Now in its 31st year of service, RMC stands as one of the region's most advanced tertiary care institutions.
Three decades of progress
Humble beginnings
Founded as a small clinic at Kumaranagar. Grew into a daycare centre and then a 24-hour emergency care facility with 6 inpatient beds, basic laboratory services, and an in-house pharmacy.
Established as a hospital (25 beds)
Transformed into a 25-bed hospital at Kumar Nagar, Tiruppur, adding two fully equipped operation theatres, a labour room, in-house pharmacy and laboratory, and a full-time gynaecologist.
Expansion to 75 beds; ICU & Cardiology introduced
Expanded to a 75-bed multi-specialty / early super-specialty centre. Appointed a cardiologist and general physician, established an Intensive Care Unit, and introduced advanced emergency and critical care across General Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Cardiology, General Surgery, Laparoscopic Surgery, Orthopaedics, Psychiatry, and Neurology & Neurosurgery.
A district first: CT scan, Blood Bank & advanced ICU
Became the first hospital in Tiruppur district to introduce a CT scan. Added an in-house Blood Bank, expanded the ICU to 12 beds, and introduced advanced emergency and trauma services — establishing RMC as the district's first true emergency and critical care hospital and reducing the need to travel to Coimbatore.
Major expansion to 210 beds & world-class ICU
Expanded to a 210-bed tertiary care hospital. Added world-class dialysis suites; an advanced ICU designed by Dr. Ramakrishnan of Apollo Hospitals; state-of-the-art ventilators, defibrillators, and monitoring systems; and advanced echocardiography and ultrasound. Officially recognised as a Grade A hospital under government and private insurance schemes.
Advanced imaging & laminar-flow OTs
Installed a 1.5 Tesla Siemens MRI (Germany), multi-slice CT, advanced ultrasound, and digital X-ray, and added laminar-airflow operation theatres with HEPA filters. Became a leading centre for knee replacement, performing the highest number of joint replacements in Tiruppur district.
Cath Lab, Cardiac ICU & cardiac surgery
Installed a Philips FD10 Flat Panel Cath Lab, bringing local angioplasty and cardiac interventions and reducing heart-attack deaths during transfer to Coimbatore. Since then, RMC has performed 6,000+ cardiac procedures and 500+ open-heart surgeries, inaugurated the dedicated Karthik ICU and a Cardiothoracic Operation Theatre, and become the region's leading performer of angioplasty and cardiothoracic surgery.
Dialysis & specialty expansion
Dialysis capacity expanded from 3 to 12 machines, making RMC one of the region's largest dialysis providers. Specialty expansion added Nephrology, Cardiology, intensivists, two full-time gynaecologists, an ENT surgeon, emergency physicians, anaesthetists, a psychiatrist, and a 24/7 paediatrician.
COVID-19 leadership & capacity expansion
Rapidly expanded from 220 to 350 beds, with additional capacity at Revathi College of Nursing and at BN Road and Kumaran Road locations — total COVID capacity reaching nearly 600 beds. Treated the highest number of COVID patients in the region across all four waves.
Renal transplant approval
Received official approval for renal transplantation, becoming Tirupur's first and only renal transplant centre and reinforcing its super-specialty status.
Recognition & education
Honoured as "Trailblazers – Kongu Region" by The Times of India. College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences admissions opened for 2026-27.
